Information about ESL at YWAM Lebanon

What will the course be like?

Instruction takes place in classroom settings, group activities, individual conversation, real life situations, and tutoring.  There are also weekly field trips and volunteer opportunities. Students from various nations, instructors and other native English speakers live together in a community setting, so students get practice in understanding different accents and using English in everyday life.

Curriculum will be through academic ESL textbooks and supplemental materials from other resources.  All levels, even beginner, are accepted. YWAM is a Christian missionary organization and we teach from a Biblical worldview.  Training includes some Biblical and YWAM resources, and our days begin with worship and prayer.

Grades will be given and passing students will receive an ESL certificate from the University of the Nations.

Life at YWAM

Community living is part of the YWAM tradition.  We live together, eat together, work together, share our lives, living spaces, and work duties for the benefit of the community. This helps us keep costs down and allows each individual to grow in very practical ways as he or she walks out what it means to love and lay down their lives for others.  We expect our students and staff to participate in the life of the community and to respect one another, giving preference to one another in love.

Single students share a room with several other people and have dorm-style bathrooms; married students have a room of their own in a shared suite. Meals are prepared in the base kitchen and eaten together with all the staff and students (including those of other schools). The base lounge is the usual hangout spot during free time, and there is plenty of space for spending time outdoors.

We recognize that relationships – with God and people – are very important and this YWAM tradition of “community living” plays an important part in bringing the base together.
